About the Author

My name is Shelly Emerson I became quite creative in the making mazes and puzzles after giving my life to Jesus. I grew up in a Christian environment. I try to stand firm on what I believe in as life goes on in society today. I have written several stories of experiences I have had throughout my life because of having epilepsy. These stories were written while attending a GED writing class finished the testing in 2011; will continue writing adding detail to the stories. The purpose of the mazes & puzzles in the different books I publish is to encourage people of all ages to grow a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father. Also a reminder of what the men, women and dogs in the military did in the past and are doing now of putting their live at risk protecting our country. These mazes have to do with some Bible stories, History of America, and National Holidays. There is and will be a second edition of a book of mazes & puzzles as books are published in the future.

Because of the epilepsy I have had all my life, I learned being creative can therapeutically help me to relax; after a seizure or feeling tense. I am not letting the epilepsy control me I control it as life goes on; that is what my parents influenced me with when I was a child. I am planning on publishing the book someday in future of my lifetime experiences. Various college courses were taken through the years and I was taught both drawings and writings have themes. Through a Progress course I took in spring of 2007 I became aware that I have both visual & verbal multi-intelligence. The reason I say that is because through the music, and speeches, I’ve listen to or articles I’ve read brought ideas of a maze to mind.  Along with some movies, landscape, or photos I’ve seen have brought back to mind stories from the past and ideas to mind for the creating of a maze.

I’m currently living in Tucson, AZ., having survived the death of both my parents. I learned several things from my parents- my mother taught me equal rights between men, women, and disabled people, and handling things of daily life.  My father encouraged me to stand firm on what I believe as to living a Christian life in this world today and healthy living. He also taught me a few things of analyzing different things of life housing, bills, and business. My epilepsy prepared my mother to take care of my father and me by herself, which prepared me to take the responsibility of caring for my father after my mother passed. Because of that I’m able live and handle things of daily life more independently though times are sometimes difficult, I remind myself the Lord is always with me.
